For the fifth year in a row, Ciena was awarded a 5-Star rating for its partner program. The 5-Star rating recognizes an elite subset of companies that offer solution providers the best partnering elements in their channel programs.

Blue Planet/Packet Design | 5170 Service Aggregation Switch | 6500 Reconfigurable Line System

Ciena took home three awards, winning the Analytics Innovation of the Year category for the second consecutive year for Blue Planet/Packet Design solution, while the 6500 Reconfigurable Line System won the Optical Network Innovation of the Year and 5170 Service Aggregation Switch nabbed the Fixed Broadband Innovation of the Year category.

Ciena’s Blue Planet Analytics was awarded Software Product of the Year at the 2018 UTC Awards. The IMPACT Awards recognize companies making a great impact within the industry through innovative and proven solutions.

WaveLogic Ai

Ciena’s WaveLogic Ai won the award for ‘Best Network Technology Innovation’ at the 2018 Global Carrier Awards. Ciena was the first vendor to introduce a 400G solution into the market, and WaveLogic Ai is the only coherent solution that brought significant innovation to networks in the past year.

BizConnect Partner Program

For the fourth year in a row, Ciena’s BizConnect Partner Program was awarded a 5-Star rating. The CRN Partner Program Guide is the definitive listing of partner programs from technology vendors that provide products and services through the IT channel. To determine the 2018 5-Star ratings, The Channel Company’s research team assessed each vendor’s partner program based on investments in program offerings, partner profitability, partner training, education and support, marketing programs and resources, sales support and communication.

Partnering Platforms for MEF Services

The Ciena Blue Planet team and DGIT were awarded Outstanding Catalyst for Business Impact for a collaborative proof-of-concept titled “Partnering Platforms for MEF Services.” The Catalyst demonstration, which was championed by Telstra, Vodafone Group and Orange, showcased the use of open APIs to automate the activation of inter-carrier Ethernet services.

Ciena’s Blue Planet solutions received top honors at this year’s Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) Awards taking home the top prize in two categories. Blue Planet Multi-Domain Service Orchestration (MDSO) won for Service Orchestration, while Blue Planet Analytics (BPA) was honored with Service Analytics for the year.

The MEF Awards program recognizes emerging dynamic network services, powered by Lifecycle Orchestration (LSO), NFV, SDN, and Carrier Ethernet.

MEF Proof of Concept Showcase Awards

Ciena’s joint proof of concept (POC) demonstration with AT&T, Colt, Orange, Fujitsu and Amdocs received the top honor in the category of Layer 1 Multi-vendor LSO. The winning POC demonstrated flexible, software-centric, and multi-domain networks capable of scaling connectivity and cloud services on demand.

This Award is given to the demonstration that best showcases agile, assured and orchestrated services delivered across a global ecosystem of automated networks.

WaveLogic Ai

Ciena’s WaveLogic Ai was selected as a winner in this year’s Fierce Innovation Awards: Telecom Edition, in the Next-Gen Deployments – Wireline category. A carrier-reviewed awards program, WaveLogic Ai was selected for being an innovative and industry leading product. All applications were reviewed by an exclusive panel of executives from major telecommunications companies, and were evaluated based on the following criteria: effectiveness, ease of use/ ROI, true innovation and end-user impact.

2017 Telecom Asia’s Readers’ Choice & Innovation awards

At Telecom Asia’s 10^th Readers’ Choice & Innovation awards, Ciena was honored with two awards: Blue Planet Manage, Control and Plan (MCP) received “SDN Innovation of the Year“ and Blue Planet Analytics (BPA) received “Analytics Innovation of the Year.” Telecom Asia narrowed down the nominations from readers for 21 categories to a shortlist of 90 entries, which represented 48 companies. Voters consisted of Telecom Asia’s subscriber base of service providers in Asia.

Waveserver Ai | D-NFV Solution

Ciena was recognized with two awards at the 2017 Diamond Technology Reviews for Waveserver Ai and our D-NFV Solution. The Diamond Technology Reviews identifies innovation in technology for the broadband cable industry, and rates each submission on a scale of 1 to 5 Diamonds based on the solution’s uniqueness, innovation, ease of use, efficiency, reliability and contribution to profitability.

D-NFV Solution | Waveserver Ai

This year at the Next Generation Optical Networking and Optical DCI Awards, Ciena took home awards for ‘Best NFV Service Orchestration Implementation’ for Ciena’s D-NFV Solution, and ‘Best Optical Product - DCI/Short reach’ for Waveserver Ai. At NGON 2017, Ciena was the only vendor to take home multiple awards, and was selected by a panel of industry experts based on developing the most effective and innovative solutions for each respective category.

WaveLogic Ai | WaveLogic Encryption

Ciena was acknowledged with two awards from the 2017 Lightwave Innovation awards; an panel of judges recognized Ciena's new WaveLogic Ai chipset with a perfect score of 5/5 stars in this year's Lightwave Innovation Reviews, and Ciena’s WaveLogic Encryption solution scoring a 3.5/5. In the 2017 reviews, only four products received a 5 star rating across the entire spectrum of categories reviewed, Ciena’s WaveLogic Ai chipset being one of them for the category of Optical Transport Platforms. The judges commended WaveLogic Ai, noting that “These industry leading capabilities are needed by end-users and we salute Ciena for bring the WaveLogic Ai solution to market”.

Ciena is recognized for its holistic approach to customer experience receiving Qualtrics’ Insights to Action Award

This award acknowledges organizations that create better experiences through actionable insights to drive product innovation, customer devotion, employee engagement, and brand excellence.  With over 400 submissions this year Ciena was one of 21 companies to receive this honor.  Each entry was reviewed three times by a panel of industry experts who gave a composite score based on detail, quality and impact.

Ciena commended for collaboration, expertise and technologies that harness Vodafone’s next-generation packet-optical network

Vodafone’s Supplier Awards recognise outstanding performance in supporting its continuous drive for operating efficiency and delivering greater benefits to its Enterprise customers. On December 14th Ciena received the award for ‘Enterprise supplier of the year for outstanding delivery and quality performance’, the first enterprise award of its kind; highlighting the joint partnership, collaboration and combined expertise and technologies that harness Vodafone’s next-generation packet-optical network.

Ciena takes home Optical Network Innovation of the Year award for 6500 WaveLogic Encryption solution

Telecom Asia organizes the Readers’ Choice & Innovation Awards to recognize the advancements and contributions of the industry’s top vendors from around the region. At the 9th annual Telecom Asia Readers' Choice & Innovation Awards, Ciena won Optical Network Innovation of the Year for the 6500 WaveLogic Encryption solution. Telecom Asia said the awards reflect the strength and diversity of innovation in the Asia Pacific. Voting was open to Telecom Asia’s online subscriber base of service providers in early October.

Ciena awarded with two top tier ratings from 2016 Diamond Technology Reviews.

Ciena received two of the highest Diamond ratings from Broadband Technology Report’s 2016 Diamond Technology Reviews. Ciena’s Waveserver received a 4.5 diamond rating, praised for notable performance that provides clear and substantial benefits, along with the 3906mvi Service Virtualization Switch, which received a 5 Diamond rating for groundbreaking innovation and new levels of performance. Only two 5 Diamond ratings were awarded to products that ‘set new standards for performance and provide groundbreaking and new technical milestones’. For more information see here.

Ciena’s Blue Planet Wins “Third Network Proof of Concept” Award

For the first time at MEF16, the organization presented an award for the proof of concept (PoC) that ‘best demonstrates an implementation of agile, assured, and orchestrated Third Network services’. Of the fourteen demonstrations at MEF16, Ciena’s Blue Planet, along with collective partners Century Link and RAD, took home this first-time award. This was the first public demonstration of Ciena’s newly announced 3906mvi x86 Server Module and D-NFVI Software, which specializes in addressing challenges associated with Distributed NFV deployments, while working cohesively with Blue Planet.

Ciena and Aqua Comms recognized for AE connect in the Fixed Infrastructure Innovation category

The Global Telecoms Business Telecoms Innovation & Technology Awards are presented for innovative projects by operators and vendors in the telecoms industry. Aqua Comms and Ciena were recognized for AEConnect, a high-capacity subsea system specifically designed for web-scale providers. Aqua Comms AEConnect is a new trans-Atlantic subsea cable system spanning more than 5,500 km from New York to the West Coast of Ireland to Dublin, London and into Europe.

Interop Tokyo 2016

With more than 300 IT companies and organizations represented, Ciena’s Waveserver was presented with the “Panel’s Special Prize” in the Carrier/ISP Network Category on June 7 at Interop Tokyo 2016 – Japan’s largest network and service exhibit.

The Lightwave Innovation Awards review and recognize optical communications technology, rating each entry on a scale of 0 to 5, the 5-star rating indicating an innovative new product that raises the bar for performance standards. Both the Waveserver Platform for data center interconnect (DCI) and 5430 Packet-Optical Platforms achieved a 4.5 rating, making them superb products that “set new standards for performance and provide groundbreaking and new technical milestones.” A panel of judges—each subject matter experts and influential network operators across the industry—selected this year’s winners.

5430 wins in ‘Wireline - Core/Transport’ category

Ciena’s 5430 Packet-Optical Platform received the 2015 Fierce Innovation Award: Telecom Edition in the Wireline Core/Transport category. The 5430 makes hybrid packet OTN switching networks highly scalable, efficient and agile, paving the way toward virtualized, SDN-based architectures.  The award comes from the publishers of FierceWireless, FierceTelecom and FierceCable.

8700 Packetwave Platform wins in ‘Smart Grid Managed Services’ category

The Fierce Innovation Awards:  Energy Edition is an industry awards program from the publisher of Smart Grid News. Ciena’s 8700 Packetwave Platform, specifically designed to address the dynamic traffic patterns and scalability associated with smart grids running across metro networks, received top honors in the Smart Grid Managed Services category.

It is clear that Ciena addresses the energy needs of a market that is going to get more important on a worldwide level, and thus the savings it brings will become more and more significant.”

For Ciena, the 4.5 rating makes it one such superb product, one that “provides groundbreaking and new technical milestones.”

Ciena and KVH were voted combined winners in the 2014 Telecom Asia Reader’s Choice and Innovation Awards, a program that recognizes technology innovations and accomplishments among leading Asia Pacific telecom vendors. The Carrier Ethernet Project of the Year went to KVH’s etherXEN service, which employs Ciena’s Z-Series packet-optical technology and Blue Planet SDN platform to deliver SDN-based burstable Ethernet service.

Lightwave magazine recognized Ciena’s Blue Planet SDN Platform in the 2014 Lightwave Innovation Awards. A diverse group of independent judges rated Blue Planet with the second highest score overall (4.5 out of a possible 5 points) as an "Excellent product with technical features and performance that provide clear and substantial benefits". Blue Planet was the only SDN platform recognized in the competition.

Service Management/Orchestration

Ciena has received the MEF 2014 Ethernet Excellence Award for Best Network Technology of the Year for the category with the most entries - Service Management/Orchestration. The Awards recognize new implementations that support scalability, virtual functionality, SDN, management, global reach and other solutions central to the delivery of Carrier Ethernet in 2014 and beyond.

Ciena's Blue Planet has won the Network Virtualization Industry Award for "SDN Technology of the Year". Network Virtualization Industry Awards celebrate excellence in the telecoms industry and recognise the outstanding technologies developed for the NFV and SDN community in the last 12 months.

Ciena’s Planet Orchestrate was named a winner for its ability to demonstrate NFV-Enabled Ethernet Services, which is the orchestration of virtual network functions (VNFs) in distributed data centers on top of Ethernet services in a multi-vendor wide area network. The goal of the Intel Network Builders program is to make it easier to build, enhance, and operate SDN/NFV-based infrastructure, while lowering capital and operating expenditures.

Ciena's Blue Planet Carrier Ethernet Services API has been nominated as a finalist for the 2014 Best New Telecom Product. Awarded to the company that has developed a potentially market-leading product that, through engineering and technical excellence, enables the deployment of profitable next-generation telecom services.
