FAQs

I’ve submitted a job application. What’s the next step?
After you’ve applied, we’ll send an e-mail acknowledging receipt of your information.

Your résumé will be reviewed for open positions in a timely manner. Due to overwhelming responses to certain positions, it may take several weeks to complete this process. We appreciate your patience.

Then we’ll contact prospects we'd like to learn more about. Unfortunately, we're not able to make personal contact with all prospects in the selection process. You can always log in to your application profile and check your status for jobs you've applied to.

If you’re selected for an interview, we’ll contact you to outline the next steps in the process.

If you’re not selected to move forward in the recruiting process, you still may be contacted about other opportunities that align with your profile or interests.

What should I expect during the interview process?
Though the conversations vary from team to team, following is a general overview of what to expect:

  • If we want to learn more, you’ll be considered for the short list and our formal interview process
  • Successful applicants will be contacted for an initial discussion
  • Should the discussion be a success, applicants will be scheduled to connect with other members of the interview panel—most likely via a phone or video call
  • Following a successful conversation, some of our technical applicants will be asked to complete a written technical challenge; others may be asked to attend a technical interview
  • If a face-to-face interview is required, it (and travel when needed) will be scheduled with you, the hiring manager, and members of the team
  • If successful, Talent Acquisition will reach out to present and discuss your offer, followed by a written offer for your consideration
  • Once you’ve officially accepted the offer, you’ll be contacted by Human Resources to initiate pre-onboarding tasks and background check requirements

Can I modify my job application information at any time?
Yes. You can return and modify your job application information whenever you like. Your information is secure, so you’ll need to log in to make changes.

I wanted to apply for a position that I saw here, but now it's not listed. May I still apply?

We regularly post new positions and remove positions that are no longer open or have been filled. If you’re not able to find the job number for a specific job, this means that position is no longer active and we’re no longer accepting applications for it.

Will you help me with relocation?

Depending on the level and type of position, we may have the ability to offer relocation packages to out-of-town candidates.

Does Ciena offer visas or work permits?

In most cases, candidates must be authorized to work in the country in which they are applying.
