LOGIX Fiber Networks rolls out 100G wavelength service with Ciena
LOGIX Fiber Networks (“LOGIX”), the largest independent fiber provider in Texas, is leveraging Ciena’s optical technology to offer 10G and 100G wavelength services to enterprise and carrier customers in what’s known as the ‘Texas Triangle’ of Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio and Houston—an area encompassing around 65% of the state’s population.
Headquartered in Houston, LOGIX operates more than 7,000 route miles and 300,000 fiber miles that connect nearly 10,000 businesses and around 100 third-party data centers. The company has been providing telecommunications solutions for over 35 years, and its new 100G wavelength service will efficiently deliver the speed and capacity necessary to support the rapidly growing network demand driven by the cloud, streaming video and more.
Says Craig Collins, LOGIX’s CEO, “Our new waves service will help us support key customer segments such as wholesale, finance and healthcare with the fast, high-capacity connections that today’s bandwidth-intensive services and applications require.”
Ciena solutions supporting LOGIX
LOGIX’s wavelength service provides reliable, high-speed transport of data, video and voice. The service is made possible by Ciena’s 6500 flexible optical platform, powered by WaveLogic Ai coherent optics, which allows LOGIX to scale and respond on demand to unpredictable traffic patterns and changing customer requirements without the need for regeneration.
Additionally, LOGIX is utilizing Ciena Services for network integration, reconfiguration and consulting services. The provider had been operating two separate networks as a result of an acquisition, and Ciena assisted with the integration of the networks, streamlining the number of transponders required to provision a wavelength. During this process, Ciena was able to integrate LOGIX’s existing equipment and management system, resulting in efficiencies and cost savings.
“With Ciena, we’re able to maximize the bandwidth efficiency and flexibility of our network, making it possible to deliver 100G with great economics, providing not only technological advantages, but competitive gains as well,” added Collins. “Our enhanced capabilities enable us to support cloud operators, content providers and carriers, moving unprecedented amounts of data for 5G wireless backhaul, data center and more.”
